How to use rel=nofollow to preserve your Google Page Rank
In short, the rel="nofollow" HTML tag is a way to tell search engines such as Google and Yahoo - "Please don't follow this link, it's not related to my website".
This is very useful if you want to provide HTML links but not wish to pass your Google Pagerank onto the sites you link to. An example might be a blog post about dubious websites, or links in comments posted by visitors.
The use of rel="nofollow" was traditionally at page level, however in the HTML5 spec it is now available and widely used on an individual link level. Usage:
< a href="http://www.bad-website.com/bad-things.html" title="Bad things on a bad website" rel="nofollow" >Bad website< / a >
Doing this would ensure that bad-website.com is not associated with your website and your Google PageRank will not be transferred onto it.
